God Can and God Will
2 Corinthians 9:8 (NKJV)
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
Our subject, “God can and God will,” promises two things. The first half is “God can.” Can what? God can do anything! There is a popular notion that suggests that God is not really God Almighty. That’s right; almighty means “He has the power so mightily that He can do anything.” Even some saints of God have difficulty believing it. They believe that God can do some things but not everything. They believe He will feed them, but they have trouble believing that He can heal and deliver them from any situation.
The second half of our subject promises “God will.” Will what? God will do everything that His Word says He will do. Again, there is a popular belief among both believers and non-believers that God will not take care of them. Some even go so far as to believe that God is not in their corner, that He does not love them and is not ready to provide their every need. For anyone that is disillusioned, God sent me by to tell you today that God can and God will.
Our key Scripture found in 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NKJV) says, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” This Scripture highlights three things that God can and will do.
- God is able to make all grace abound toward you. Grace is unmerited favor from God; it is God giving you the things that you do not deserve and cannot earn.
- You always will have all sufficiency in all things. 2 Peter 1:3 (NKJV) assures you, “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue…”
- You will have everything you need to do good work, as is stated in Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV), “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
If that isn’t enough proof that God can, just look at Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV), “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,”
So, you can plainly see that God not only is able but He also can do anything! But will He? The answer to that question is in Luke 11:9 & 10 (NKJV) where He promises, “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” So, according to Scripture, not only is God able to give, but He also will give everything needed to anyone who will ask Him, seek to find Him, or is willing to knock on His door of heaven where a blessing is too big to receive.
God will not give you everything you want, but “God can and God will’ provide for you everything you need to grow strong in Him. He will give you everything you need to love and empower others. Finally, He will give you everything you need to accomplish what He desires of you on this earth. God can and God will!
